Build with Claude: how our first session worked

Members of IXC Commons unwinding after a Build with Claude session in Chandigarh.

Build with Claude, run in Chandigarh on 8 July 2026, was the first session IXC Commons ever ran. It set the format every session since has followed.

The original format

Five people, five laptops, one afternoon. No slides. Everyone left with something they'd built, not a plan for something, not notes on a demo, an actual thing that ran by the end of the afternoon.

That constraint, small room, real laptops, one afternoon, something working by the end, is still the test every IXC Commons session gets measured against.

Why it started this way

The people running IXC Commons, Raghav Arora and Ayush Basral, wanted sessions they would actually want to attend themselves: no panel, nobody presenting at a room of people taking notes, just a room of laptops open and people comparing notes as they built.

That first afternoon worked well enough that it became the template. Every session since, the Coffee with Claude editions for sales, entrepreneurs, and developers, has kept the same shape: small room, real problem, something running by the end.

From one session to a community

What started as five people in one room in July 2026 is now a recurring thing, with a growing session log, real photos from every session in the gallery, and a WhatsApp group where the next one gets announced first.
